Forum will feature:
• a
University Lecture presented by Joan Dye Gussow entitled,
"Of
Pyramids and Parsnips: Just Eat food."
• Dr. Gussow's presentation will be
followed by comments and
a group discussion by panelists, Odessa Piper and Matt Sharp.

Keynote Speaker:
Joan Dye Gussow
Dr. Joan Dye Gussow is
a Professor emerita and former chair of the Nutrition Education
Program at Teachers College, Columbia University. Dr. Gussow has devoted her career to teaching |
|

and writing on
nutrition, nutrition education, and the connections between
sustainable food systems and health. She is the author of
"This Organic Life: Confessions of a Suburban
Homesteader."

Panelist:
Odessa Piper
Chef,
writer, lecturer. Founder, and previous owner at chef of L'Etoile
Restaurant for 28 years. As Odessa transitions from her
years at L'Etoile, she will reflect on how the health of our
bodies is connected to the health of our of animals, our soils,
our farmers, and the earth. |

Panelist:
Matthew Sharp
Registered nurse and
grass-fed beef producer at Highland Hearth Farm near Reedsburg,
WI. Matt raises his Angus herd using rotational grazing
and without use of antibiotics, hormones or
pesticides. His devotion to these practices comes from his
personal experience and belief that most food raised in the U.S.
is nutritionally bankrupt --designed to feed a society that
worships convenience. And the price we're paying is our
health. |
