REAP's Fourth Annual
Food for Thought Festival

Street theater -- click for larger version
Area school children, along with David Bruce, standing at left, and Sara Tedeschi (in large costume) put on a street theater performance titled "Why the sky is so far away," which is based on an African folktale. More 2002 photos here.

The annual Food for Thought Festival is a fun, festive forum that explores and celebrates the diversity of good food available in Wisconsin.

Held on September 21, 2002, just off the Capitol Square in Madison, the festival was a great success! Our theme was "Nourishing the Future: Food and Our Children." Alice Waters, executive chef and owner of Chez Panisse (Berkeley, CA) and "Edible Schoolyard" pioneer, delivered the keynote address.

The Food for Thought Forum took place Friday evening, Sept. 20, featuring a speech by Alice Waters, followed by a panel discussion with Waters, Jean Feraca (WHA), and Mark Voss (teacher and organic farmer); Betsy Draine (UW Dept. of English) moderated the discussion.

Many thanks to our sponsors, vendors, and volunteers -- and to festival attendees -- for making the festival such a great experience!

Information about the 2003 Festival is here.
