Theme: "Nourishing the Future: Food and Our Children"

On the Plaza

Booths of more than 50 organizations and businesses promoting and/or selling local and sustainably grown food.

8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Booksigning with Alice Waters, chef and author of Chez Panisse Fruit, Chez Panisse Vegetables, Chez Panisse Café Cookbook, Fanny at Chez Panisse (a children’s cookbook)…to name a few.  

Main Tent

9:00 a.m. Cooking demonstration by chef Rafe Montello of “We’re Cooking Now,” Look Who’s Cooking Recipe Contest Winning Kids Recipe (food sampling)

9:30 a.m. Prize Winners announcement, Look Who’s Cooking Recipe Contest

9:45 a.m. Cooking demonstration of Look Who’s Cooking Recipe Contest Grand Prize Winning Recipe by chef/instructor Paul Short of MATC’s Culinary Trades (food sampling) 

10:05 quick demo of "Mint-ato" with Terese Allen and Emma Conover-Crockett

10:30 a.m. Keynote Speech titled, “The Ethics of Eating,” presented by Alice Waters, award-winning chef of Berkeley’s Chez Panisse and Edible Schoolyard pioneer. Followed by Alice Waters food presentation.

Music Tent 

9:30 a.m. Leahy’s Luck, Irish band

10:30 a.m. Joe Kimmel and Doug Brown, folk singers

11:30 a.m. Leahy’s Luck, Irish band

Kids’ Performance Tent (Starting at 8:00 a.m.)

8:00 a.m. Dadawah, high-energy drum, dance and song group (music from Mali and Guinea)  

9:00 a.m. Children’s Street Theatre: “Why the sky is so far away?” (African Folktale performed w/ Dadawah)

10:00 a.m. Quann Park Garden Sing-a-long

11:00 a.m. Rich Baumann, folk singer

12:00 noon. Hmong Dance Troup (dance/skit)

Kids’ Activity Tent

9-10 a.m. Children’s Museum project (planting herb seedlings)

11:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. Tortilla making

Other activities are ongoing:  
*Face painting 
* 24 carrot necklaces (make your own edible necklace) 
* Chickens on a leash (receive a chicken wrangler badge for successful wrangling) 
* Chalk mural 
* Interactive display – Name that Vegetable 
* Food related works of art 
* Bean bag toss
