What is the Buy Fresh Buy Local Southern Wisconsin program?
Sometimes we refer to Buy Fresh Buy Local as a "match making" service. Our job is to help area farmers, chefs and other food service providers build lasting partnerships.
The current food system doesn't make it very easy for sustainable farmers to market their products nor does it make it very easy for chefs to find and use those products; instead it overwhelmingly favors big distributors over small farms and makes it hard for farmers and chefs to find one another.
Our goal is to generate a long-term network of local producers and buyers that provides economic benefits to all parties and gives consumers many more opportunities to eat delicious foods grown in a healthful, just and sustainable manner.
BFBL Sourthern Wisconsin is pleased to work with other BFBL Chapters nationwide, founded by the FoodRoutes Network, a non-profit dedicated to creconnecting Americans with the source of their food.

The most rewarding thing about serving local foods is knowing exactly where your food is coming from, having a relationship with that person, and making something that people are going to enjoy. I also get a sense of pride serving food that is from the area.
