Family Farm Defenders Family Farm Defenders is a national grassroots organization committed to sustainable agriculture, rural justice, workers’ rights, consumer safety and food sovereignty. Through our Family Farmer Cheese Project we enable family farmers in southcentral Wisconsin to receive a just market price for their rBGH-free and organic milk. Farmers are able to stay on the land and consumers get a healthier product. It is our goal to expand this fair trade model to other locally grown and processed food items in the future. Lombardino’s Lombardino’s serves seasonal Italian cuisine with menu selections changing bimonthly to reflect the seasons and to highlight the best available products. Madison Area Community Supported Agriculture Coalition (MACSAC) MACSAC works to create a sustainable, just and local food system in southern Wisconsin by promoting and supporting CSA farms, and educating others about the benefits of local, sustainable eating. We operate the Partner Shares Program, which subsidizes CSA memberships for limited-income households. MACSAC’s annual events include the CSA Open House (March) and Bike the Barns (September). Slow Food Madison Slow Food Madison sponsors informal gatherings, educational events and projects that link pleasure and food with awareness and responsibility. Wisconsin Farmers Union Kamp Kenwood WFU Kamp Kenwood is supported in part by the Wisconsin Farmers Union Foundation, whose projects and programs for all ages foster family farming, rural life and public education on the important role of cooperatives and agriculture in society. Since the 1930s, WFU summer camps have delivered a unique blend of cooperative philosophy, leadership development and social justice education to rural and urban kids, while building awareness of the value of family farms and strong communities. Wisconsin River Meats Wisconsin River Meats is a meat processing business owned by the John Hamm and David Mauer families. WRM specializes in Wisconsin sausage and sells over 40 varieties made right here, including landjaegers, summer sausages, snack sticks, jerky, bratwurst, ham, bacon and others. We sell fresh meat, including beef and pork that we purchase from local farmers. We also process beef, pork, lamb, bison, elk and deer for area producers. WRM also offers pig roasts and catering.
