REAP Food Group + Roots4Change
Food is Community
Farms to Families (F2F)/Fondo de Granjas a Familias is a partnership between REAP and Roots4Change (R4C). This program purchases fresh, healthy, locally grown food from regional family farms and small businesses and distributes it to Madison-area Latino/Indigenous families experiencing job loss, food insecurity, and lack of access to social services.
F2F highlights culturally meaningful food preparation, bolsters women and BIPOC food entrepreneurs, and creates a co-learning space centering cooking, breastfeeding, and food policy.

WHAT DOES F2F DO AND WHY DOES IT MATTER?
- Provides culturally meaningful and nourishing food to families facing food insecurity
- Distributes an average of 48 Resilience Boxes per week with volunteer help
- Fosters connection through programmatic events, connecting participants with farmers and other community resources
- Creates a co-learning space centering cooking, breastfeeding, and food policy
- 94% of Latino/Indigenous families with children fall below Dane County poverty lines
- Many social and political factors make these families among the least likely to seek help from established food and support programs
- Sourcing from women and BIPOC food entrepreneurs supports producers that historically face more barriers to traditional markets
